Everybody is a peacemaker

There are millions of initiatives, movements, and organizations all over the world aimed at peace. Some are expressly connected with peace; others have goals that are relevant to peace. Nobody would say that his/her engagement doesn't serve peace. In fact, people of all professions, ages and cultural backgrounds, even members of the mafia or terrorist organizations, fascist regimes or any other oppressive governments may subjectively believe and claim that they are serving peace. All people share their desire for living in harmony and their self-assessment of doing their best for the realization of peace, also - and even more so- soldiers, policemen and responsible politicians engage in their profession for the sake of justice The comprehensive question which is discussed - and sometimes fought about in the streets or in court- is to find a reasonable way of creating peace. In this controversy, nobody should be allowed to have a priori rights to dominate the other, or to deny other people their desire for peace. But it must also be possible to confront others with the assumption and claim, that they are mixing their interests with private, egoistical ones and/or are creating a source of injustice and violence due to their political dealings. In our illustration above, a person is localizing him/herself in the positive (bright) part of peace budding since they feel they achieve a relative large amount for peace (Where would I place myself?) In the view of others, the same person might be located in the negative (dark) part because they consider that this person's behaviour is, in fact, detrimental to peace, despite his/her claims that it is peaceful.
