   The Symposium of War, Conflict and Nonviolence Alternative was held in Xiangtan,China on 11-12 April,2014. This symposium received grants from United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia, as well as support from the Charhar Institute, the College of Humanities of Hunan University of Science and Technology. 

  The lectures in the symposium were on the overall theme of peace studies, peacebuilding and peace education. More than 50 scholars from China, Japan, Germany and India attended the symposium.
   
   Professor Liu Cheng (History Department, Nanjing University, China), Professor Zhu Chuanqu (Vice-President, Hunan University of Science and Technology, China), Ke Yinbin(Secretary-general, The Charhar Institute, China), Professor Egon Spiegel(University of Vechta, Germany) addressed in the opening ceremony.
   
   The Chair of the keynote speeches was Professor Liu Cheng (History Department, Nanjing University, China), well known for his contributions to the spread of peace studies in China, whose subject was the core concepts of peace studies.
   
   Professor Egon Spiegel (University of Vechta, Germany) presented a speech on the basic theme of peace studies.
   
   Professor Kyoko OKUMOTO (Osaka Jogakuin University, Japan) gave the speech “Method of Facilitation to Transcend Dualism: For North East Asia”.
   
   Dr Rajendra K. Patil (Registrar, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, India) talked about peace and Indian Culture.
   
   Mr. Yang Shanyou( Director of the John Rabe Research and Exchange Center for Peace and Reconciliation, China) has made his report of the value of achieves kept in Peace Museums".
   
   Professor Chen Jianrong (Director of the Centre of Peace and Conflict Studies, Jinan University, China) shared his experience with attendances on teaching of peace studies course.
   
   Following keynote speeches is the panel discussions. Each participant expressed opinions. Ruan Yuexiang (Shandong University of Finance and Economics, China), Liu Wenquan (editor, History Teaching) spokes at the meeting.
  Professor Zhang yadong (College of Humanities, Hunan University of Science and Technology, China),  presided over the closing ceremony. The symposium has complete success.
